Victor De La Rue’s radical first descent within the Pyrenees

First descents are almost always a sketchy undertaking – regardless of the sport. This first descent from the professional snowboarder and freeride world champion of 2019, Victor De La Rue. just seems to take the stakes to new heights.

As one of the most innovative drivers in the sport, Victor is constantly looking for his next big challenge. The great climber is known for charging some of the steepest, most radical faces on earth – including a 55-degree drop on the north face of the Aiguille du Midi in Chamonix.

In May, De La Rue decided to descend the north face of Taillon – in the Pyrenees – for the first time. The treacherous descent showed changing snow conditions and a radical slope – just observing his FPV perspective made us squeamish. In addition to the challenging driving conditions, reaching the summit required very technical ice climbing.

All together and this was a radical mission.
