The Supreme Court meets at 10 a.m. on its last day of argument in January. Judges will hear arguments first in two consolidated cases – FCC v Prometheus Radio Project and National Association of Broadcasters v Prometheus Radio Project – over whether the Federal Communications Commission acted lawfully when it rolled back rules preventing a single company from being allowed both own a newspaper and a television or radio station in the same local market. You can find our case preview here. The second argument of the day will be BP PLC versus Baltimore Mayor and City Council, which could determine whether a lawsuit holding oil companies responsible for climate change should go to a state court (as the plaintiffs want) or a federal court (like the plaintiffs want) is negotiated. as the companies want). Our preview is here.
Before the judges take the virtual bench for the day’s oral arguments, the court is expected to release orders from the judges’ private conference on Friday at 9:30 a.m.
