The Biden administration declares the primary Covid-19 take a look at at residence
President Joe Biden’s administration has announced the first Covid-19 test at home. The test has an accuracy of 95% and can give a result in 15 minutes.
According to Andy Slavitt, a temporary senior adviser for Covid-19, the test was created on a test platform developed in the NIH RADx Initiative. “
“Now we are dealing with over-the-counter, self-carried out test kits with which Covids can be detected with an accuracy of around 95% fifteen Minutes, ”he said. “They can be used when you are feeling symptoms of Covid and also to screen for people with no symptoms so they can safely go to work, school and events.”
Slavitt noted that the test is done with a nasal swab in the center of the turbine, which is “less invasive” than previous swabs. After a person has administered the nasal swab, they can put the sample into a digital analyzer, which sends a result to a smartphone in 15 minutes.
“Simplifying the use of tests that are available to every American is a high priority with obvious benefits, ”noted Slavitt.
The Department of Defense, Health and Human Services has signed a $ 230 million contract with Australian company Ellume to ramp up production of the tests.
“This contract will allow them to scale production to produce more than 19 million test kits per month by the end of the year, 8.5 million of which are guaranteed by the US government,” added Slavitt.
