Susan Collins runs a collaborative rip-off, however Democrats aren’t shopping for it

Senator Susan Collins complained that the Democrats alienated her and that she really wanted to cooperate unless she didn’t.

The Wall Street Journal reported:
She was part of a group of Republicans invited to an early meeting with President Biden in the Oval Office about coronavirus relief. But her proposal was never seriously considered by Democrats, who passed their own $ 1.9 trillion bill without a single Republican vote. Ms. Collins said she was frustrated with the smears and the interactions that followed.

“Why they want to alienate the Republican who is most likely to work with them to find common ground is really a mystery to me. And it’s obviously a very bad strategy, ”she said in an interview.

The Republican proposal was never considered because the Democrats would not vote for what was a PR stunt. The Republican plan reduced unemployment benefits, economic controls, no housing benefits, and no expanded access to health care for those affected by COVID. It converted the food assistance it offered to block grants and allowed states to spend the funds however they wanted.

The plan was a farce. It wasn’t even on the same planet as the Biden proposal.

Sen. Collins is conducting a fraud. It pretends to want cooperation while making proposals that include a list of Republican demands that it sells as bipartisan cooperation.

It’s a disadvantage that corporate media always falls for. You will be asking the Democrats why you aren’t partnering with Collins. When you should really ask Sen. Collins, why did you vote against an extremely popular stimulus plan that cuts taxes on the poor and middle class?
Democrats don’t fall for this scheme. You have power, and if Republicans want to work together, they can always join the talks.

The days of Susan Collins’ bipartisan Three Card Monty are over.
