Pure Choice Tour with freestyle snowboarders within the backcountry
Forget the half pipe, this new snowboard tour can begin Naturally.
The Natural Selection Tour brings together the world’s best freestyle snowboarders and features natural and naturally enhanced terrain in five unique locations – Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Baldface Lodge, British Columbia and Tordrillo Mountain Lodge, Alaska. The tour begins February 3rd and 9th in Jackson Hole and ends in Alaska, where top finishers compete against each other in late March to determine the best all-mountain freestyle riders for men and women.
“The Natural Selection Tour was designed with Mother Nature as its main character and with mutual respect for and from snowboarding,” said Travis Rice, professional snowboarder. “Women’s snowboarding is advancing so quickly and we’re delighted that both men and women are taking part in the tour. I’m so excited to see what’s possible in snowboarding when riders of this caliber can build on each other’s progress in real time at some of the absolute best riding arenas. The opportunity for our team to share with the world is humble and a true honor. “

Unlike many traditional snowboard competitions that are held in controlled park environments, this tour rewards riders with extensive knowledge of the conditions in the backcountry and the ability to combine a creative run on natural terrain.
The first event in Jackson Hole will include 16 men and 8 women, including Elias Elhardt, Ben Ferguson, Wise Kotsenburg, Nils Mindnich, Mark McMorris, Chris Rasman, Travis Rice and Gigi Rüf for the men; and Jamie Anderson, Marion Haerty, Elena Hight and Robin Van Gyn for the women. And for those at home, the Jackson Hole contest is exclusively broadcast for free and in full Red Bull TV. The stops in British Columbia and Alaska will be broadcast as show packages on Red Bull TV.
“I’m really looking forward to natural selection. I’ve always been inspired by backcountry riding, ”said Jamie Anderson, two-time Olympic champion. “I’ve had the privilege of going to all kinds of slopestyle events, but never a backcountry powder tour. The course looks amazing and I am definitely nervous but very excited to try something new! It’s going crazy! “
