Kayakers function certainly one of New Zealand’s most notorious waterfalls

Tucked away in the depths of the Kaimanawa Forest Park in the heart of New Zealand’s North Island is the 80 foot long Tauranga Taupo Waterfall. First discovered and relegated About 10 years ago, kiwi legend Brendon Bayley had a mixed history for kayakers that included clean lines, broken backs, and near-drowning. This December, rains drove the river dependent drop to the perfect level of 600 cubic feet per second, and two of New Zealand’s most promising young chargers returned after a scouting mission with a plan: to run the drop. 16 year old George Snook and Zack made mutton the brutal two hour hike with Kayaks and checked the flow one last time before coming by. The falls are known for their tricky entry and hard lip. With the sun out on a glorious summer day in the southern hemisphere, the timing worked perfectly. E.everything aligned to the the guys to get perfect lines along this gorgeous 80 foot waterfall.
