Biglaw associate arrested for home violence

This morning, the American attorney reported that Joshua Schiller, son of Jonathan Schiller by Boies Schiller, was arrested last night in Ross, California for domestic violence.

Even so, Schiller’s attorney is confident that the charges will be dropped quickly.

“I expect the fees will be dropped. That was a misunderstanding. There was no case of domestic violence, “Joshua Schiller’s attorney, California-based defense attorney Douglas Horngrad, said in a statement.

Horngrad also issued a joint statement from Joshua and Melissa Siebel Schiller: “This is a private matter between us. We love and respect each other. We are partners and together we will go beyond that. “

Still, it’s another unfortunate headline for a company in the midst of an organizational reorganization where mass exits after years of expansion are taking a new direction. Schiller is acting as an administrative partner on the West Coast as the company’s operations in California were curtailed last year.

Business Insider reported that Schiller was removed from a matter in 2017 for “making inappropriate comments” to an employee. However, this is the first such domestic violence incident.

Reaching out for comment, the company said:

The company has been made aware of recent events relating to our partner Josh Schiller. While we have been informed by him and his wife that this was a misunderstanding, the company will be doing its own review to better understand what happened. While this review is in progress Josh has asked for a leave of absence to focus on his family and we have agreed to give him time this time.
