Arizona man arrested for making an attempt to hijack a Nationwide Guard caravan carrying vaccines
When Joe Biden was elected to the White House, he promised 100 million vaccine shots in his first 100 days. He’s already had over 100 million shots with over a month’s time.
Americans who want vaccines are getting them in record numbers. But there are still a lot of people, many of them white male Trump supporters, who refuse to take the shot.
In addition, there are also Americans who endanger other people’s ability to vaccinate. One of these men, Larry Harris, was arrested after attempting to hijack a National Guard caravan carrying vaccines.
According to WAFB9:
“Larry Harris, a 66-year-old man from Wilcox, Arizona, was armed when he chased three National Guard vehicles from a gas station in Lubbock to about two miles east of Idalou. Idalou police said Harris made several attempts to run the caravan off the road and sometimes ran into oncoming traffic. When the vans stopped, he pointed a gun at an unarmed guardsman and asked that all vehicles be searched, insisting on being a detective. The guardsmen finally got out of their vehicles. “
Eric Williams, Idalou Police Chief, said of the incident, “Mr. Harris seemed mentally disturbed. This was a very dangerous situation as the suspect was standing with a loaded weapon in the middle of the unarmed guardsman when the Idalou officers arrived on site. We are grateful that the officers were able to take him into custody without injuring any of the guards, officers or the suspect. “
